Dynamics of miR156 and miR172 involved in the flowering of Jatropha curcas L. Acta Botanica

ABSTRACT Jatropha curcas is a plant that accumulates high-quality oil in its seeds, which is capable of being transformed into liquid biofuel. However, several aspects of its flowering are still unknown, which is a key step in the production of fruits, seeds, and oil. Flowering is a complex process that is regulated by various factors at the molecular level, including microRNAs (miRNAs). There is evidence suggesting that the miRNAs of the miR156 and miR172 families play a key role in the flowering transition of plants. For this reason, the dynamics of miR156 and miR172 were studied during a production cycle of J. curcas. Molecular diversity and genetic relationships of mango germplasm from Chiapas, Mexico Agrociencia

Most of mango (Mangifera indica L.) production in Chiapas, México is located at Soconusco region where a large morphological and genetic diversity have been detected due the free-pollination among plants. The characterization and identification of outstanding plants can be useful for mango diversity conservation as well as the use for mango breeding. Forty-one local mango accessions collected in five locations (Huehuetán, Pijijiapan, Tuxtla Chico, Tapachula, Escuintla) in the state of Chiapas, México, were subjected to AFLP analysis and then compared with 19 mango cultivars. Resumen La antracnosis y pudrición blanda en frutos de papaya provocan deterioro de la calidad, así como grandes pérdidas durante el manejo postcosecha. El uso de estrategias individuales para el control de enfermedades resulta poco eficiente. Por lo anterior, en el presente estudio se evaluó el efecto sinérgico de varias estrategias de control sobre la incidencia de enfermedad causada por la inoculación de esporas de los hongos Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) y Rhizopus stolonifer (Ehrenb.) en papaya var.
